A certified medical transcriptionist since 1981, Ms. Ireland has worked in various settings, including hospitals, clinics, and doctor's offices, as well as two years overseas in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia plus 1-1/2 years in Kingston, Jamaica. Ms. Ireland currently lives in San Antonio, Texas, with her cats where she is a part-time instructor for the on-line division of Mildred Elley. I would like to preface that I am not korean and don't ...

I would like to preface that I am not korean and don't have an ounce of asian blood in me. But I am very interested in Korean culture and would like to visit some day. As my source of whether or not this is true to korean culture or not I have a korean friend who I ask lots of questions to and I (this sounds lame) watch kdramas. What my friend says matches what I see in kdramas. But I also know that I don't know everything so if a korean is reading this please don't get offended if I misinterpreted something. Anyway on to my review.

This author did a very good job of portraying traditional korean values and traditions. The artwork was very traditional. A lot of it portrayed what I've experienced in historical kdramas. And may I say beautiful? Absolutely gorgeous. She also did a good job portraying traditional korean values. Which are from what I understand respect and family. Kongjee always treated her family with respect and provided them with what they needed even when they didn't deserve it. From what I know in josean korea women are to be timid and obedient. Kongjee definition italy fit that. You can really tell the author did her research.

Now for the story: yes it did portray korean culture very well, but kongjee was a little too obedient for my liking. For example, a black ox gives her fruit she the shares it with her family. Why? You know that they'll just eat it for themselves. Come on. But I also understand that family and respect are a lot more important in korea than they are in America.

Fast shipping. Overall it was a good book and very well thought out. Sorry if I misinterpreted korean culture wrong

I am one of the fortunate few who have not lost a loved one, yet as I read Jenetta Barry's book, Full-Circle Rainbow, I received empathetic glimpses of a mothers' overwhelming grief at losing a child. Far worse for Jenetta, her sixteen-year-old daughter Jennifer, took her own life.
Full-Circle Rainbow is a short book that I completed while digesting a superb Sunday lunch taken at the KwaZulu Natal Midland's finest restaurant, Cooking Bear. It is dedicated to all those who are searching to understand, and for the rest of the day, flashes of the eerie book cover haunted me.
In Jenetta's emotional journey, first came the grief, and then the acceptance of Jennifer's departure; only then could the healing begin. The healing originated from the request for a sign that resulted in a rainbow of colours reflected off a CD acting as the prism. From then Jenetta knew that whenever a rainbow occurred, Jennifer was connecting with her.
Jenetta's search for the perfect place to scatter Jennifer's ashes was a task she undertook with her son Neil. It was while living in KwaZulu Natal, that Jennifer ended her life, but having lived in Kenya, it was there they took the casket containing Jennifer's ashes. After a stay in Nairobi, they continued to Sand Island, Tiwi, that is on the South coast of Mombasa, where the family had spent the previous year's holiday. That holiday was one that the rebellious teenager, Jennifer, had not wanted to go on. However, within a few days, she settled back into family life and had a wonderful time with her siblings and Ali, the Giriama-Muslin Cook. It was Ali, who assisted Jenetta and Neil in selecting the perfect spot. There at the reef edge, they put the askes to rest. However, Jennifer did not rest.
Her work and a wide circle of scattered friends, takes Jenetta to several countries but irrespective of her whereabouts, Jennifer makes contact with her mother via rainbows.
`Although today waves of sadness every so often run though me, especially this time of the year with her having died two weeks after her sixteenth birthday - I am able to simultaneously look for and acknowledge the upside of what had happened in my life since losing a daughter.' Full Circle Rainbow

I received your book and finished reading it in one evening - I couldn't put it down! Thank you for sharing this Jenetta, it was amazing. My brother was 23 this year, also born like Jenny in 1989. He was the third child (as was Jen). He also took his life.

The reason I purchased the book was because I read a snippet about how in one instance Jenny connected with Jenetta through numbers. After my brothers passing, the number 11 kept coming up everywhere I went. His birthday adds up to 11 and a psychic once told us that he and I are twin souls which 11 is often used to represent. So when I read the numerology section in the book, it was quite amazing and familiar.
With all these earth-connections, I sense that Bivash and Jenny may have connected.

Furthermore, since reading this book, I have had a flood of connections and experiences that I am now able to recognise. The grief of losing someone you love so much is unbearable at times and seems inconsolable but when understanding that life and love is eternal, as this book so clearly illustrates, you are given the gift of possibility and the strength to carry on living your full potential.
I'm so glad and grateful to Jenetta for writing this book!
A must read for anyone who has lost a loved one.

An inspiring deeply moving book

I have found this little book `Full Circle Rainbow' an inspiring, deeply moving and gallant read. There are many gifts for the reader in this book, elegantly written, by my friend and colleague, Jenetta Barry. Her profound insight into death and loss will be invaluable to those overcome by loss and tragedy. This Mother/daughter story is a revelation of truth, wisdom, heart-breaking and heart-achingly personal. In sharing her courage to face unacceptable pain through the suicide of her precious daughter Jenny, gave me the assurance that I too could survive the death of my son. I am deeply moved by Jenetta's unique combination of insight, compassion and intuition. I find her heart-centred approach to understanding grief to be truly inspirational. There is something beautiful about her energy, her presence and her spirit. You know instantly that she is sincerely and deeply invested in the emotional and spiritual well-being of others. Everyone could use the gift of Jenetta, her precious daughter Jenny and their story `Full Circle Rainbow' in their lives!

“Soup”, I find it a great mystery why people only lean towards this fantastic wholesome avenue of nutrition only while they are looking to lose weight.
Soup is not only a passion of mine it is also one of my three main meals every single day. The varieties, textures, tastes are just mind blowing once you discover some of my all-time favourite soups.
I am guessing most of the people that have bought this book are just interested in the recipes and good on you for being so direct! As for those of you who want a little more insight into the history and origin of this delicacy, I shall open the history books for you and show you where what are about to cook is derived from.

Lovely variety of inviting soup recipes

The recipes look wonderful. The instructions are clear and the variety is amazing. I plan on making all 25 of the recipes. My 4 star rating is because there are inconsistencies in units of measuring within some of the recipes that will require conversations before being made. One recipe calls for a 400g can of diced tomatoes. Not a typical unit in the US. A conversation chart would be really helpful. Other than that it is a great book. Will try to return and comment on the recipes themselves once I have made them. Disclosure: received this book at a discount in exchange for my honest opinion.

Sweet and Sour Effort

I'm a lover of cooking, reading, and comfort foods. So I was pretty eager to dive into this ebook and search for inspiration to combat the now chilly weather. I could tell that it had been written and published by an individual and not a publisher. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I love that Amazon makes it possible for writers to get their foot in the door independently. I feel that it was a good effort, and I feel that this ebook was written with love for the subject matter, and with her family in mind. It was not perfect, but it gets the job done.

First things first, I like the cover art. I'm far from an artist or art critic, but it's simple enough to be visually inviting, with enough warm color to give the viewer a sense of comfort that the book's content is hoping to also bring the reader.

I skimmed over the recipes themselves, stopping to read the ones I'm more interested in trying, but mostly getting a sense and forming an opinion of the general layout. The recipes are formatted the way most are. It is straightforward, easy to read. Some photos of the dishes would have been nice, even a photo for one of every five recipes offered. I did notice one inconsistency while reading the French Onion Soup recipe. The directions ask the reader to stir in the wine at a certain point, but there is no mention of wine in the ingredients list. I was very eager to try this recipe, but I have no idea what type of wine to use, or in what quantity. If the author happens to see this review and is able to leave a comment, I'd love to know what I need to try the recipe!

Regarding the Introduction and Thank You and Goodbye sections at the beginning and end of the book, I feel these could have been better written. I only found one outright error, which was a missing period at the end of the third paragraph of the Thank You and Goodbye section. Otherwise, there were redundancies, such as the word "only" being used twice in the very first sentence of the book. I understand that the writer's intention was to write this in her own voice, with a sense of informality, as though the reader were a relative or a guest in her home. But the end result was something that, quite honestly, was a bit of a chore to read. With a little more practice, I think she could find her voice as a writer, and manage to create something that is well written and still feels personal. Perhaps she could spend a little time reading cook books by writers that have been doing so professionally for some time. I also think that in her future works, she should seek out an experienced proof reader before finalizing her work--someone who will give her an unbiased opinion.

All in all, I feel the writer accomplishes what I assume are her main goals. I do think her recipes are appealing and I intend to try at least a couple of them. Had I purchased this ebook at its original listed price of $2.99, I would have been disappointed by both the quality of the writing and the missing information in the recipe. However, I feel the writer has potential and I hope she continues growing as an author.

I got this book on sale! I was so glad I did. One thing I will definitely cook year round is soup. The cold weather us coming so great soup ideas are a plus! I cooked the baked potato soup and my family enjoyed it! Even if it's not cold, I will still enjoy a bowl of soup. Can't wait to try more recipes.
