Interesting Book.

This book is not what you might expect from a typical digital electronics book. It doesn't discuss how to design an instruction set or how to make a counter out of flip flops, Instead it focuses on the authors design process and it uses the well known Z80 as an example. The code listings are not complete and the writing is somewhat tedious. I wouldn't classify it as a how to book. More of an insight into the way an experienced designed approaches the problem of designing a CPU. There are no implementation details so if you somehow manage to actually design a CPU from the information presented here, you will have to code the implementation yourself. I was somewhat perplexed by the book at first but I can see how it might be useful to help sort out your thought processes as you approach a design. I rated the book 4 stars but I don't feel I am qualified to rate the book at all. I just wanted to explain what you are getting as best I could. I took off one star because the writing style is somewhat tedious and the fact that the title is not enough to go by. They need to do a search inside or something.
