About the Author
Mitchell Kossak, Ph.D., LMHC, REAT, is an associate professor in the Expressive Therapies department at Lesley University. Previously he was the Division Director, 2006-2013 and academic coordinator for the Lesley University Israel extension campus 1999-2006. He has been the executive co-chair/president of the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (IEATA) since 2010. He has been a licensed mental health counselor since 1994, and a registered expressive arts therapist (REAT) since 2009. He is the associate editor of the Journal of Applied Arts and Health and fellow of the Institute for Arts and Health at Lesley University. His clinical work combines expressive arts therapy and body-centered approaches. Dr. Kossak has trained in a variety of mind body modalities and has studied and practiced energy- based healing forms such as Tai Chi, Chi Gong, Vispassana meditation, and Iyengar yoga for over 30 years. He earned his doctorate from the Union Institute and University in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Expressive Arts Therapy and Transpersonal Psychology. He has written about and presented his research on rhythmic attunement, improvisation, psychospiritual and community-based approaches to working with trauma and embodied states of consciousness at conferences nationally and internationally. Dr. Kossak is also a professional musician, performing for the past 30 years in the Boston area.

An excellent guide to stimulating and utilizing authentic creative expression

I find Mitchell Kossak's work to be right on target. As a writer and musician, I'm particularly drawn to the chapter on improvisation. It clearly explains the ways in which opening to the deepest inner energy, the "flow" of impulse and free experiment can yield dramatic results. This is true for me as an artist working alone, as well as with other people. Either way, it's essential to trust that the unrestrained interplay of the unconscious with the concrete aspects of the moment will point the way, will facilitate the emergence of authentic artistic expression. As Kossak also makes clear, this level of attunement is invaluable for the deep diving necessary to reach a true understanding of the inner self in therapy. Anyone interested in the arts, and in any mode of therapy, will find a lot of inspiration in this book.

About the Author
Lokenath Debnath is Professor of the Department of Mathematics and Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in pure mathematics from the University of Calcutta, and obtained D.I.C. and Ph.D. degrees in applied mathematics from the Imperial College of Science and Technology, University of London. He was a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge and has had visiting appointments to several universities in the United States and abroad. His many honors and awards include two Senior Fulbright Fellowships and an NSF Scientist award to visit India for lectures and research. Dr. Debnath is author or co-author of several books and research papers in pure and applied mathematics, and serves on several editorial boards for scientific journals. He is the current and founding Managing Editor of the International Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences.

Tedious and slow to get going

This book contains very little continuum mechanics in it. It starts out with a tedious development of suffix notation, as well as two chapters developing the properties of cartesian tensors of second order. Unfortunately, this includes proving such basic things as the sum of two tensors being a tensor. The author seems to also enjoy avoiding conventional notation wherever possible, and places everything (products of matrices, products of matrices and vectors, cross products) in suffix notation, which blurs clarity quite often for those new to the convention. Furthermore, the fundamental laws of continuum mechanics are delayed until page 325 (the third from last chapter), leaving only two chapters (a measly two-thirds of the book) for elasticity and fluid mechanics. Finally, the style is a fairly strict theorem-proof, which makes it quite a dry read.

Nice math book but not enough physics

This book is a nice tensor analysis book, however, basically nothing about constitutive theory (one of the most important results in continuum physics) is presented. There are other continuum mechanics books out there in this price range that are better (e.g. Spencer, Gurtin...etc.)

This is a very good introductory book on continuum mechanics. I believe that the use of the suffix notation that the authors adopt throughout the book makes it easier for the reader to put in practical use the theoretical principles developed in chapters 5,6,7 and 8.

Pier Francesco Ferrari, Associate Professor, Department of Neuroscience, University of Parma , Italy,Giacomo Rizzolatti, Professor Emeritus, University of Parma, Italy

Pierfrancesco Ferrari is Associate Professor at the University of Parma, Italy, and Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland, USA. Ferrari's current research focuses on the functional role and development of parietal and premotor cortical functions in relation to social cognitive processes in human and nonhuman primates. From 2007 to 2008, Ferrari served as Adjunct Scientist at the NIH, Bethesda, USA, conducting research on cortical development in relation to cognitive functions in macaque monkeys. Together with Giacomo Rizzolatti he is Director of the International School of Neurosciences "Sir John Eccles", at the Ettore Majorana Centre in Erice, Italy.

Giacomo Rizzolatti has been President of the European Brain Behavior Society and Italian Society for Neuroscience. He is the Senior Scientist of the research team that discovered mirror neurons. His main research focus has been the role of the motor cortex in higher cognitive functions. He is member of Accademia dei Lincei, Academie des Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences. He is the recipient of several prizes: "Golgi Prize for Physiology", "George Miller Award", "Grawemeyer Prize", Price of Asturias Prize for Science and Technology" Prix J.L. Signoret in Neuropsychologie" from the IPSEN Fondation, and the "Brain Prize from Lundbeck Foundation".

The breadth of topics is impressive, showing how the idea has found traction in fields like rehabilitation of patients with muscular problems. Best book on aquaponics out there

Best info I have found in all areas of aquaponics. Detailed and informative. Just wish there were exact plans for the system I wanted. I chose the fill and drain system and wanted a small one to start out. I understand why it couldn't though. So many different possibilities preventing an exact plan setup for everyone. I definitely recommend this book for everyone.

Great book for beginners
This book is very detailed. All the question you have about aquaponics will be answered. The only drawback is I wish the pictures were colored. If you buy this book your money won't be a waste.

BUY THIS BOOK!

This book is great for both introduction to aquaponics and getting someone in the mindset to grow big enough for a commercial operation. The how-to's and troubleshooting sections look like gold, for when the time comes to set up and operate. If anyone wanted a great read on the topic, I'd recommend it any day. Easy to read and understand at all skill levels.

About the Author
Bill Schutt is a professor of biology at LIU Post and a research associate in residence at the American Museum of Natural History. His first book, Dark Banquet: Blood and the Curious Lives of Blood-Feeding Creatures, was selected as a Best Book of 2008 by Library Journal and Amazon and was chosen for the Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers program. Born in New York City and raised on Long Island by parents who encouraged his love for turning over stones and peering under logs, Schutt quickly grew a passion for the natural world, with its enormous wonders and its increasing vulnerability. He received his PhD in zoology from Cornell and has published over two dozen peer-reviewed articles on topics ranging from terrestrial locomotion in vampire bats to the precarious, arboreal copulatory behavior of a marsupial mouse. His research has been featured in Natural History magazine as well as the New York Times, Newsday, the Economist, and Discover magazine. He was recently reelected to the board of directors of the North American Society for Bat Research. A recipient of the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Grant at the AMNH, Schutt lives on the East End of Long Island with his wife and son.
