It is also designed to assist the adolescent and teen in minimizing his or her drug or alcohol abuse with an eye towards abstinence. This program will also define for the adolescent and teen the obstacles they will have to overcome in order to break free of drug abusing and alcoholic family systems. The Program provides self-help inventories on alcohol and drug use, goal insight(s)/worksheets and a wealth of interactive activities for group success. The Program also comes with a Drug Handbook which identifies and describes the effects of all drugs ranging from opiates to GHB, and other current Club Drugs. It also specifies the slang name for each drug so that a child can identify when he or she is in a potentially harmful environment.

The Program also offers teens and adolescents links to National Crisis Hot Lines and websites, via Google, Facebook and Twitter, for not only alcohol and drug abuse but for various other issues as well.

Fantastic, Helpful Guide

For several years, my daughter has been asking for piano lessons. Shamefully, I admit that I was intimidated on getting her started in this world. As a single mother, not only did I not have the space for a full sized piano or the money, but also the time and research that went into this endeavor seemed daunting.

After reading "How To Get Your Child Started In Music," there were no more excuses. The author laid out every single step in a detailed, concise manner that made the process a piece of cake. With this book, I found a neat keyboard for very little money, and she could also sing-along with the music that came with it. And my daughter can't close the piano books that the author recommended. They are so beautifully illustrated to keep her interest.

My daughter was thrilled with her new keyboard and lesson books and I also found the right piano teacher, all by following the author's checklists. She has been on her way. It is amazing to see my once shy daughter entertain her friends with her new musical skills on the piano. Her self esteem has taken off through the roof and her grades at school have even improved- and *that* is music to her mother's ears!

Gardner's inspiring rags-to-riches memoir of his transformation from homeless single father to philanthropic owner of a multimillion-dollar brokerage house somehow has less of an impact in audio than on paper. Blake has an excellent, manly voice, perfect intonation and excellent streetwise cursing abilities (a crucial part of Gardner's account of his relationship with his stepfather). Yet as good as the narrator is, by the third CD listeners may not be able to shake the feeling that he's an actor reading someone else's words. Since Gardner's love of jazz is a running theme, the evocative jazz trumpet music at the beginning and end of each CD is appropriate; even more between-tracks music might have been effective where the narrator's pauses are not long or dramatic enough (say, between one sentence where he is with his biological father in Louisiana and the next, at work in his brokerage office). This is a moving story whose audio version might have been better served with more dramatic devices.

The book came in great condition. It was a requirement for one of my reading classes and came in a timely fashion. Personally, i would never have read this book, but actually ended up liking it after the class was over. As usual, there are more details in the book than in the movie. I would recommend reading the book first!!

Hard work in the midst of adversity does pay off

When a movie based on a book comes out, I usually like to read the book beforehand. Which is why I haven't seen the movie yet, anyway, I finally get around to reading this book and am not disappointed. What amazes me about Mr. Gardner is his willingness to learn things and how quickly he learns them. That, paired with a tenacious desire to succeed is what propels him out of poverty. Granted, he made some poor decisions that contributed to his situation, but, we've ALL made poor decisions. He doesn't play the victim or make excuses, he takes responsibility, works hard despite adverse circumstances and with help from the kindness of others, he succeeds.

Great book to read about what the American dream is and how it can be achieved through adversity. I watched the movie first and loved it but after reading the book, I hate the movie. They should have been more truthful on Chris's personality, they missed a lot of key aspects. I love that Chris didn't leave any of his mistakes he has made out. He doesn't portray himself as a great person, even though overall he is a great person and a good father.

We are awash with content and probably are struggling to consume what is being flung in our direction, both relating to material we want to read and what others think we should be reading. Professionals are being encouraged to pump out more and more, so the right sort of content can be critical to get an ever-stressed share of viewer eyeballs. Enter valuable content marketing and the art of that goal.

In this revised edition, the authors aim to get the reader working on their content strategy, moving towards that golden dream of generating content, valuable content, that will be engaging, shareable, helpful, addictive and maybe even viral. There are, after all, only so many cat videos or Internet memes to try and ride in the shadows of. You have to make your own mark…

The authors appear to offer a pragmatic and powerful guide rather than just filling the reader’s mind with overly optimistic expectation and the fake promises of content glory. You need not expect that this is “mission impossible”, yet equally you may need to set your expectations accordingly. Serving your niche and serving it well is a good mantra. Not all content will get sucked into the Buzzfeed machine and become the Internet sensation de jour. Clicks do not always transfer into actual money in the bank nor does your brand necessarily become any better known (in a positive light, at least).

A good attempt is made to give the generalist a helping hand in the right direction. If you are already “doing content” it might not be so revolutionary or earth-shattering, yet it can still be a worthy read in case it helps you refine an existing strategy or show you a new side to something that you had not considered. It is still “cheap at half the price” if you consider the potential upside. In fact, one could imagine that many in the “content industry” will dislike this book immensely because of its no-nonsense, quite honest and refreshing look at a subject, written in a clear, accessible style without needing to dumb things down. The book looks at a lot more than “why” you should do content marketing and seeks to focus the content marketing beam to a narrow, powerful laser light that can be aimed towards a given vertical sector.

With this book by your side, it is possible that you can can possible achieve quite a lot with your content. It can be a powerful tool in your armoury.

Being a lover of content and content marketing, this book has not only helped me expand my knowledge of the subject, but to solidify the things that I already knew.

Highly recommend this book to anyone involved in content marketing. Easy to read and follow.

This updated version is packed full of actionable advice for anyone who needs to create content as part of a business. I would even recommend this book to bloggers as the online world is noisy and it can be hard to stand out. This book provides a wealth of how to knowledge on using social media, blogging, creating e-books and other pieces of content that is easy to comprehend and implement. The step by step action lists are easy to follow and definitely something that I will be referring to over and over.
