The only bright spot in Jody’s miserable life is when he gets to look at Roan Doyle, a man who works at a used bookstore. Jody’s drawn to Roan and wishes he could get over his shyness and approach the man. But Roan’s probably not gay, and even if he was, why would he want Jody, who’s got an unusual phobia, a fear of the rain? When Jody goes home to find a stranger waiting for him--a man who isn't human, suddenly, Jody and the world he knows changes forever.

Not worth the time or money

This book is pretty terrible. The writing involves the usual ebook errors, like missing words and punctuation mistakes, but that is unsurprising these days. (Note to the author: it is called the White House, not the Whitehouse.) The main problem is that the plot is full of holes. The premise is interesting, but it doesn't pan out. None of the main characters is very likeable, and very little that they do makes any sense. I finished the book to see if it would come together in the end, but I remained disappointed.

Dragon Shifters in America and Around the World
By Vastelle
I am not one typically interested in writing reviews, as I read too much to want to put forth the effort, and feel it will only reach a few people, however, due to the fact this is a new author with only 1 other review that found them poorly lacking, I felt it was a bit necessary to add my opinion.
So this is a dragon shifter book, which is almost like an automatic one star for me. I do admit I did hesitate on the purchase of this book, as I feel the price was a bit high for a brand new author and only a 248 page read, along with a poor review. However, I took the chance because Dragon +Shifter = Me Giving it a Try.
As a slight warning to anyone looking for sex scenes, there are none, and the ones hinted at are in the second to last and very last chapter. So that was a slight disappointment, but not a requirement to be a good romance. The story itself contained a very interesting species, with a pretty understandable look on the world and the domination they feel entitled to. I like the way the author used rain and water in general to connect the dragons to their special abilities.
Admittedly there are a few things I wish that were changed or done differently, and they are easier to point out because they are small areas in the whole of a great book which is harder to describe without giving it all away. I wish the dragons were more in the tradition of aging, as this author seemed to keep them on the same life growth and expectancy of humans. There never was a real indication how the dragons lived in their clans, though it was sort of hinted the clans would have stayed together and away from humans. I would have liked to know why Jody wasn't able to connect to his dragon at one point, what caused it, as well as see more of his personal growth in taking charge instead of it just happening in a snap. Or if as an author you relied more on past life experience, then perhaps a clearer reason for that barrier coming down. I would have liked knowing why Emmett even ever was being dated, as he seemed to have served no purpose of his aunt and the culture belief I would assume she would have held wouldn't have logically ever had him in her life, or her putting up with his personality.
I do look forward to exploring more shifter books from this author, and perhaps even in the new world created in this story.
