Semantics is divided into three parts: the first establishes the place of semantics within linguistics and its relationship to other disciplines. The final part reviews the three main current theoretical approaches to semantics: componential theory, formal semantics, and cognitive semantics. Each chapter contains exercises that familiarize the student with the practice of semantic description.

About the Author
John I. Saeed is Associate Professor of Linguistics in the Centre for Language and Communication Studies, Trinity College, University of Dublin. He is the author of several books, including Somali Reference Grammar (second edition, 1993) and Somali (1999).

This book is a great intro book to semantics. It has clear examples and explanations. Definitely recommended for beginners or anyone interested in semantics!

Kindle version coments

The Kindle version of this book lacks page numbers, which makes following it difficult for classroom use when the professor says "on page....". Also in chapter three there is a note regarding the formatting: "Here we follow the convention of writing postulated semantic elements in small capitals to distinguish them from real words." However, in the text, I checked the Kindle version against a classmate's paper version & found that the Kindle version does not have the small caps in the text, making it difficult to make this distinction. Nonetheless, I think it will still be usable - I will update if I find myself needing to return it for a paper version.

Fiona and Matt have been inseparable and happy. Their lives couldn't better until Travis comes back into Matt's life. Torn between choosing the man that once owned his heart and the woman that has won him over. Matt toys with the possibility of having both of them.

Overall, I enjoyed the story but it did feel rushed to me. I would have like more of the backstory between Matt and Travis. I did enjoy watching their relationship bloom and them overcoming their hardships. If you are looking for a story that has D/s elements without being heavy then A Risk Worth Taking is definitely worth reading.

About the Author

Sheela Raja, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist and assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed internship and post-doctoral training at the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Boston, MA, and has published numerous articles exploring the relationship between physical health and traumatic events. Raja has a passion for making evidence-based psychology accessible and is a frequent contributor to various print and national television media outlets.

Good for mild cases, not so good for complex ones

This really only works for people with mild PTSD. Even then it's not a substitute for care. If you have a complex case, you'll just find yourself checking all the boxes inside, which means that the book is essentially useless. Find a therapist and journal in general. I think this book would be great for people whose cases are not all that severe, or who have a cluster of symptoms. As a person with complex PTSD, I found myself overwhelmed by frustration as I checked box after box.

The concept of hinge axis and its role in prosthodontic rehabilitation has been established long back in the dental literature. Determination of true hinge axis by kinematic face- bow and its applicability in the fully adjustable articulator is quite cumbersome and not a user friendly technique, therefore determination of arbitrary hinge axis has an edge over true hinge axis. Different schools of thoughts have different opinion regarding the determination of arbitrary hinge axis by using posterior arbitrary reference points. However, a universal consensus over this controversy makes a clear remark that location of hinge axis points devised by various researchers may be satisfactorily utilized for determining the hinge axis. This work was taken up out of curiosity to ascertain whether which of these reference points are most reliable. Probably the old proverb seems to be correct again..old is gold.

I bought this e-book because it had 4 stars on another website. Within the first 15 pages, I thought what the heck is this??? His writing was so fractured and all over the place, it was impossible to follow what he was trying to say. Chapters don't flow from one the next; some of them don't even make sense. However, since I actually paid for this (my mistake) I continued until Chapter 23 when I just couldn't stomach any more.

Dissociative Identity Disorder, schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder are very real, very serious mental illnesses. This "author" has no business attempting to create a believable memoir of any of these. He either needs a MUCH better editor or he needs to go back to the stage - because his book sure reads like a big act.

I'd give it a negative star rating if I could.

Inspired by the courage to share his volunerability and struggle to overcome

I keep trying to think of how to describe my reaction to this book. The book is not an act but a true inside view of what mental illness is and the internal struggles it causes. A perfect illustration how the outside of a person doesn't always show what lies within- what the core pain life experience brings. I only pray that I would have the courage to one day write a piece of art so bravely and courageously as this author has. I hope others will read this book and have compassion on those who have to suffer with the joys and difficulties that mental illness can bring. Thank you for your boldness Rikki Lee Travolta-- truly touched :)
